William, a 10-year-old boy from Milwaukee, was a long-awaited and cherished child. His mother’s pregnancy was smooth, and he was born a strong, healthy baby. However, shortly after birth, doctors discovered that William and his mother had a blood type incompatibility, requiring an urgent blood exchange operation. Unfortunately, the procedure was delayed by a week, causing irreversible damage—bilirubin affected William’s brain.
Today, both William and his family continue to navigate the lifelong challenges resulting from this delay. His diagnoses are not temporary or treatable; they will remain with him for life. William has been diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, dyskinetic cerebral palsy, and alalia.
William’s daily life revolves around continuous rehabilitation sessions, botulinum injections, and multiple surgeries he has already undergone. Every day, he fights to adapt to his body, managing both spasticity and hyperkinesia. The progress that William and his parents have achieved in his development is truly remarkable.
Despite significant balance issues that cause frequent falls, William is able to move on his own. While he does not speak, he communicates effectively using an alternative communication device, allowing him to express his feelings, needs, and engage in conversations.
Bright and quick-witted, William eagerly participates in various activities and attends educational classes, demonstrating his determination and love for learning.
Specialists recommend intensive rehabilitation for William, as each session brings significant improvements in his functional abilities. To continue his progress, he requires two rehabilitation courses per year. One three-week rehabilitation course costs $1,800, totaling $3,600, of which $1,595 is already available from donations but remains unused. Therefore, we are asking donors for $2,005. The boy's relatives are seeking our help.
Let's help William reach new heights and lend a helping hand together. Only together can we succeed!
